What is your favorite book, eBook, DVD, or music score?

There are a couple of books that I consider my favorite but one that was transformative for me is The Headspace Guide to Meditation and Mindfulness by Andy Puddicombe.

Why did you choose this item to share with the library?

This eBook sparked my journey to a path of finding peace and being free from my subconscious mind.  Being exposed to a glimpse of my peace-bound self has made mastering mindfulness a beautiful struggle.  Hopefully you will take heed to this choice and find peace in this material!

What is your major?

I am majoring in Geography, Environment, and Planning which will soon be referred to as Environmental Science, Geography and Planning.

What was the most memorable/useful thing about working in the library?

The most memorable thing about working in the library is the staff that I had the honor of working with!  I hope to have the same work environment in my career.

What advice would you give to incoming SSU (e.g., freshman) students?

My advice to first-year students is to make sure you reach out to your professors and make connections with them!! Another thing is to stay true to yourself and be sure to listen to your heart and not your mind. If you allow it, the ‘universe’ will direct you where you need to be in life. All hardships have a beautiful reward if you maintain a positive outlook and spirit! Set goals for the career you want, lifestyle you want to live, and anything important in life important to you and work towards it early on!

What is next for you?

I plan to spend 1-2 semester(s) doing an internship related to my degree to get a feel of what I want to apply my passion to. Using Geographic Information Systems to analyze environmental issues is a broad description of my interests but I am not sure where to apply it to. Once I have identified what that is I am firm on going to graduate school to obtain my PhD and be researcher/scientist.
