How to Relax in the Library

Finals are upon us, but don't forget to relax! Giving your brain some time to repair and recover will help you perform better. If you're studying in the Library, there are tons of things you can do to take a quick break without even leaving the building. Check out the current show in the University Library Art Gallery. This show, Wild(er)ness, focuses on representations of wildness and nature, and asks us to think about just what it means for something to be considered "natural." Beautiful works of art depicting scenes from nature are definitely relaxing. We also have a great collection of magazines you can browse when you need a break. Our print magazines are available to browse on the 2nd Floor North lounge area. We have over 100great titles including The New Yorker, Down Beat, Artforum, Rolling Stone, Mother Jones, and Sport Illustrated. We've also got plenty of cushy chairs and couches if you need to curl up and rest your eyes for a few minutes. Pick up one of our Popular Reading books for a nice distraction from your textbooks. Or you can check out an album and listen to it here in the Library on one of our record players in 2nd Floor South. There are lots of ways you can relax. Whatever you do, don't forget to take some day to recharge and refresh your brain during finals.
