International Human Rights Day

Today is International Human Rights Day, celebrated in honor of the adoption and proclamation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by the United Nations General Assembly in 1948. Created in the aftermath of World War II, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights seeks to recognize the inherent rights of all people. The full document, along with more information, is available via the UN's website: http://www.un.org/en/documents/udhr/index.shtml In the 60+ years since Human Rights Day was first established, issues concerning universal human rights remain as relevant and important as ever. This year's theme is "Human Rights 365", asserting that human rights need to be recognized every day.
