The Library Welcomes Karen G. Schneider

The University Library is pleased to welcome our new Dean, Karen G. Schneider. She comes to us from Holy Names University where she was the University Librarian for five years. She brings to Sonoma State University over twenty years of experience in libraries around the country, including leadership positions in the American Library Association and in the Statewide California Electronic Library Consortium. Schneider is also a prolific writer, having authored over one hundred articles and two books related to library science as well as literary essays in venues such as The Best American Nonrequired Reading and The Cassoulet Saved Our Marriage. Her awards include the Leadership Award from the Graduate School of Library and Information Science from the University of Illinois and the Elizabeth Futas Catalyst for Change Award from the American Library Association. Schneider is dedicated to continuing the University Library's student-centered approach and to solidifying the Library's role as the heart of the campus. We hope you'll join us in welcoming Karen Schneider to Sonoma State University. If you see her around, be sure to stop and say hi!
