October 30: Frank Ryan Gallery Talk and Reception

It's hard to imagine anything better than two art receptions on one night! The University Library invites everyone to join us for an amazing event this Thursday, October 30, 2014 in the University Library Art Gallery. Frank Ryan, one of SSU's most fabulous BFA alums, will be discussing the exciting work in his current exhibit, "CLOAK: Iterations of a Draped Figure." The works in this exhibit were inspired during Ryan's time at the Chalk Hill Artist Residency. Ryan states, "The drawings and sculptures [in the exhibit] are inspired by the drapery studies of Leonardo da Vinci. In his preparatory studies such as Drapery for a Seated Figure the cloaked human form is immaterial, while the artist's attention is devoted to the objective form of the linen." Thursday, October 30, 2014 University Library Art Gallery Gallery Talk: 3:00 p.m. โ€“ 4:00 p.m. Reception: 4:00 p.m. โ€“ 6:00 p.m. CLOAK: Iterations of a Draped Figure will close on Friday, October 31, 2014. And as long as you are on campus, why not catch another art reception? In the University Art Gallery from 5:00 p.m. โ€“ 7:00 p.m. join in the fun at the opening reception of "In the Valley of the Sun," featuring artists Keven Cooley and Philip Andrew Lewis. That's two great receptions on one night!
