The Wikipedia Edit-a-thon is Back!

Are you curious about Wikipedia? Have you ever wanted to try your hand at editing? Want to know more about the history of Sonoma County? Join us this Wednesday, April 22nd from 12:00 – 3:00 for our Wikipedia Edit-a-thon: Utopian Communities of Sonoma County. Our goal for the workshop is to improve the content of the Wikipedia articles devoted to the utopian communities of Sonoma County. If you’re new to Wikipedia, we can help you get started with information on account creation, using wiki markup and guidelines for creating content. If you’re an experienced editor, you can dive right into the research. Use one of our laptops or you can bring your own. California and Utopia just go together and Sonoma County has had its fair share of social experiments. From direct communication with the sprit world at Fountain Grove in the 1870s to the 1960s' free love, open land, counter culture commune at Morning Star Ranch, there’s a lot of fascinating history to explore. We’ve gathered together some books and other special items from our collection to help you discover and share this remarkable aspect of Sonoma’s history. This drop-in workshop will be held in the Special Collections/Quiet Study room on the third floor and is open to SSU students, faculty and staff. *Creating an account beforehand will speed things up and it only takes a minute: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Why_create_an_account%3F Stop by and see what all the excitement is about!
