Sophie Rainer - Student Assistant

Sophie has worked in the Library’s Special Collections department since January of 2016. She is an English major with a concentration in Literature and hopes to continue working in libraries after graduation. She has worked on several projects for Regional & Special Collections, including digitizing, and putting up for display, student newspapers; transcribing interviews by newspaper columnist Gaye LeBaron; and organizing & updating the Charles Rhinehart Papers.

“It has been a rewarding experience for me learning the behind-the-scenes work involved in maintaining the SSU Library’s many historical collections. I find myself continually drawn in by the plethora of old documents, letters, and photographs that preserve the past. It’s a bit like travelling back in time, and working with these materials provides a unique opportunity to learn about the stories of people and events that helped shape Northern California.” -Sophie Rainer
