Eventually Harris got into trouble, as so many community leaders do … when [Harris] died in 1909, title to the ranch passed to his wife and from her to the remaining members of the community who lived there. Nagasawa continued to run the ranch and the winery through these years, and, when some left and the others died, he became a U.S. citizen and owner of the property.
