Accessibility Services and Assistive Technology

Library staff and librarians are happy to work with you to provide assistance in accessing library resources. You can contact the library by phone at 707-664-2161, by email, or by visiting the Information/Checkout Desk on the second floor.

Assistive Technology

The library provides assistive technology on two dedicated workstations on the second floor. Please visit our Computers page for more information about technology available.

Assistance with printing and photocopying can be provided at the Information/Checkout Desk or the first floor Help Desk.

Retrieving Materials

Most library materials can be requested in OneSearch and picked up at the Information/Checkout Desk on the second floor. Requested materials will generally be available within 15 minutes, but may take longer depending on the number of staff available. If needed, library staff can assist you with retrieving items from shelves.

Electronic Resources

The library licenses electronic resources from a number of different publishers and information service providers. E-resource platforms are evaluated for accessibility and all efforts are made to provide access via accessible platforms. The content provided on vendor platforms may meet varying degrees of accessibility standards.

The library cannot guarantee that all documents or media provided via vendor platforms are accessible. Students with accommodations can submit an Alternate Media Request to Disability Services for Students (DSS) for conversion of any print library materials needed for assignments.

Faculty who wish to use e-resources in courses should consult with the Center for Teaching and Educational Technology (CTET) for remediation of documents and media.

SSU faculty, students, and staff can request Information Technology (IT) remediation for journal articles by filling out the Document Remediation form.
