CSU+

Are you looking for something we don’t have? We can get it for you! You can access all kinds of materials from other libraries through CSU+ and our resource sharing program. Watch a short video to learn how to borrow materials from other libraries.

Current students, faculty, staff, and emeritus faculty can place CSU+ requests. You can also visit any CSU library and check out materials as a visiting patron. All you need is your Seawolf ID.

CSU+ is not available to Community Borrowers or SSU alumni.

Placing a Request

Requesting from CSU+ is easy. When you search in OneSearch, you'll see all of your options for getting access to resources. If something isn't available at SSU, place a request by clicking Get It.

Request options: get a physical copy options and Need a Chapter options

If you're searching a library database, you can locate any item by clicking on the Find It button. If we don't have it, request it by clicking Get It.

Fill out as much information as you can in your request. Include any additional information in the Comment field (e.g., "This journal is supposed to be in the SSU collection, but a library staff member verified that it's missing").

Most items can be requested, but whole issues or volumes of journals, software, rare or fragile materials, genealogy materials, reference books (like encyclopedias and dictionaries), and some dissertations are not usually available.

Requesting Limits

Current faculty, staff, and students can request up to 200 items each academic year.

Emeritus faculty can request up to 75 items each academic year.

Picking Up Requests

Articles and book chapters will be available electronically through your library account. You will have 90 days to download digital requests.

Books and media can be picked up at the Information/Checkout Desk or in a library locker. Specify whether you want to pick up in the library or in a locker when you place the request. Items will be held for 7 days.

You will receive an email notification when your requested items are ready to be downloaded or picked up. Check your spam foler if you have not received an email from the library within the time specified, as some email servers flag library emails as spam.

Loan Periods

Articles and chapters delivered electronically are yours to keep. Download them within 90 days, as they won't be permanently stored in your library account.

Books borrowed from another CSU library can be borrowed for 16 weeks.

Books borrowed from non-CSU libraries will have varied loan periods, as determined by the lending library.

Some libraries restrict materials to use within the library only. You will be notified about these restrictions when you pick up items. These items will not be available for locker pickup, even if that is requested.

Fines and Fees

We provide CSU+ services at no charge to you. The cost to the library is between $20 and $50 for most requests, so please request only those materials necessary for your research, retrieve items promptly after being notified they are here, and return them on or before their due dates.

There are no overdue fines for CSU+ items, although replacement fees will be charged for items that are lost or damaged. These fees are determined by the lending library.

Please let us know if you lose or damage a CSU+ item. Libraries are often willing to accept a replacement copy or a fee equivalent to the value of the book. Before purchasing a replacement copy, contact the Interlibrary Loan department to verify that the library will accept a replacement copy.
